White BBQ Sauce
The first White BBQ Sauce I ever had was from Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q in Atlanta. We catered a company event and brought in a full spread of their pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked chicken. Along with the meat, they provided three distinct BBQ Sauces, one of which was White BBQ Sauce. It seemed odd and quite appealing to this girl who loves all things creamy. Holy Wow! was the first thing I thought when I tasted it. We have since recreated this mayonnaise & vinegar based BBQ sauce at home. It’s creamy yes, but has a nice punch from the horseradish and creole mustard. Black pepper and garlic round out the depth of flavor.…

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
When I first began the Lemony Thyme blog it was our fresh herb porch pots that I recognized/acknowledged/gave credit to/sited/attributed for my cooking inspiration. Fresh Herbs still continue to amaze and inspire me daily. However, I have found an equally intriguing element to cooking. Recreating fridge/pantry staples from scratch (or mostly from scratch). Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing is super easy to make at home and just as good if not better than the bottled variety.

Catalina Salad Dressing
As I continue with my quest to share all the “Classic” Salads I can think of I’m branching out to dressings as well. I hadn’t had Catalina Salad Dressing in years until Friday. I had forgotten how much I love it’s sweet tangy flavor.

Strawberry Jalapeno Skillet Jam
I wanted to make a grilled cheese sandwich using fresh strawberries, a hunk of brie, and fresh basil growing like crazy in our Aero-Garden. I needed one more component to seal the meal :) As soon as I saw this recipe from Savory Simple I was hooked. Strawberry Jalapeno Skillet Jam you are my shining star.

Waldorf Salad {with Honey-Cardamom Dressing}
One by one I’m recreating classic salad recipes to share on Lemony Thyme. It’s been quite fun bringing life to favorites like the Lunch Counter Chef Salad, the Classic Cobb Salad and now this delicious Waldorf Salad {with Honey-Cardamom Dressing}. The Waldorf Salad is lovely served for luncheons, showers, and other special celebrations; such as a retirement party at the office for one very special lady. Yes, you could serve this salad for just such an occasion. I stayed fairly true to the original Waldorf Salad recipe that dates back to the late 1800’s when it was first served at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City. I did however give the mayonnaise…

Green Goddess Dressing
Last week’s nostalgic tour of our favorite Classic Salad Recipes inspired me to make Green Goddess Dressing. An abundance of fresh basil (thanks to our Aero Garden) added one more layer of green goodness.

Green Goddess Salad {with Homemade Green Goddess Dressing}
Our Green Goddess Salad is really all about the homemade Green Goddess Dressing. Yet, the addition of lightly blanched fresh green beans, celery leaves and fresh basil to our buttery Boston Bibb lettuce did make this salad better than your garden variety.

Orange Vanilla Vinaigrette
Orange Vanilla Vinaigrette. One thing I’ve vowed to master in 2014 is salad dressings. I’ve had a few successes in the past but more often than not…..flops!
