Fish Taco Bowls
Fish Taco Bowls. I just adore complete meals served in a bowl. For breakfast, lunch or dinner. And I don’t discriminate against ingredients based on the time of day. As long as they are fresh and flavorful…I’m a happy girl.

Caldo de Pollo {Sundays with Shelby}
It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for my kid Shelby. My tender-hearted 22 year old had her heart strings plucked like a banjo. No phone conversation could soothe her, it was time for a little Mom love. I told her to jump in the shower, get ready, I was heading her way.

Lunch Counter Style Chef’s Salad
We had a good old fashioned Lunch Counter Style Chef’s Salad for dinner last night. It had been years since I’ve had one. Once the salad revolution transformed how we view salads, some of the old standards have been slowly forgotten. I can say with certainty that there’s a reason the Chef’s Salad was on most menus for decades. It’s delicious and a completely satisfying meal.

Sushi Stack
I must admit I’m quite proud of my Sushi Stack. Not only was it delicious, but it looks so pretty in a picture. And we all know how important that is :) Every time I visit Whole Foods I look forward to winding my way through the store, ultimately reaching the seafood counter. They don’t always have sushi grade tuna but on this day they did. What a huge treat and such a delicacy.

Guacamole Deviled Eggs {with Crispy Bacon}
Guacamole Deviled Eggs with Crispy Bacon. One week to go before we complete our first year of ‘food blogging.’ A term I hesitated to use for most of this year. On one hand it was hard to put myself in that category, with so many very talented writers, recipe creators, and photography wizards. And on the other hand, I had always thought of a blog as a personal diary of sorts, something I couldn’t envision Lemony Thyme becoming last June. However, as time progressed I began to open up a bit. A simple reference from a friend or family member about something I wrote in a post, felt good. It made me…

The Classic Cobb Salad
The Classic Cobb Salad. The quintessential Eat Out of the Fridge/Pantry recipe just might be The Cobb Salad. After all, as the story goes, that’s exactly how this world-famous salad came to be back in 1934. Bob Cobb, owner of the legendary Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant, got a midnight hankering for something to eat. Midnight snacks can be some of the best meals. Anyway, he went pilfering through his restaurant’s industrial sized refrigerator pulling out a variety of leftover ingredients (hard-boiled eggs, lettuce, avocado, tomato, cooked chicken, blue cheese…) and proceeded to chop them into a massive salad. He snagged a few slices of crispy bacon from a line-cook on his…

Salmon BLT Salad {with Avocado Aioli}
I realize that a Salmon BLT Salad with Avocado Aioli is not much of a recipe. And possibly not worthy of a post. However, it was really good. And the fact that it was very basic, down to packaged croutons…made it about the best thing we had eaten in at least 3 days.

Pomegranate, Zucchini, and Avocado Salsa {Share the Love}
A couple years ago, just before the Christmas Holiday season began, I sat down on my living room rug with literally years of issues of Martha Stewart Living magazine scattered around me. I began to bookmark recipes (and decorating ideas) I wanted to try. It is our family tradition that Christmas Eve dinner is comprised of finger foods….some annual favorites, but also a chance for us to experience new recipes. I’m sure I turned down page corners on at least 100 recipes that year, and one of the few that actually made the cut was Pomegranate, Zucchini, and Avocado Salsa.
