Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup
Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup. I recently saw a fb post from a well known blogger that asked followers if they used canned goods in their cooking. She received hundreds of comments that ranged from “NEVER” with a long list of the reasons why not to, to “My husband and I both work. Coming home to a crock-pot meal (that calls for cream of…) allows me time to play with my daughter before bed.”

Lemony Thyme Pound Cake {with Lemon Glaze}
Finally a cake. I decided our first cake recipe should become our signature cake. Since Lemony Thyme was, and continues to be, the inspiration for this humble blog she shall have her very own cake. Lemony Thyme Pound Cake {with Lemon Glaze}.

Herbed Mashed Potatoes
Tips on Making Great Mashed Potatoes The type of potato is a matter of personal preference, we often make mashed out of bakers, all types work. Plan on a 1/2 lb. per person. Peel them or not, depends on whether you want a rustic or smooth finish. Cut them or not, the key is they need to be similar in size for consistent cooking time. If you peel them, cover them in cold water right away. Then drain them right before cooking and add fresh water (this gets rid of excess starch). Brown Butter Irish Soda Bread {with Rosemary & Cracked Black Pepper}
Brown Butter Irish Soda Bread {with Rosemary & Cracked Black Pepper} As St. Patrick’s Day entered the radar of food bloggers and the like, the recipe sharing became fast and furious. I couldn’t have imagined Guinness could find it’s way into breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert….but alas it’s been done. Wonderful dishes rich in flavor yet not overdone. I suspect that holds true for Ireland herself. I never question the authenticity of a dish, purely because I love to experiment with recipes and expect others do as well. Let that be the lead in to this not so traditional Brown Butter Irish Soda Bread with Rosemary & Cracked Black Pepper. The beautiful…

French Onion Soup {with Pumpernickel Croutons}
When I make French Onion Soup I know my family feels loved. That makes me happy. A big pot of buttery caramelized onions, fresh herbs & garlic, nice rich beef stock, topped with an over-sized crouton smothered with cheese. It’s LOVE I tell you.

Cheesy Garlic & Herb Pull-Apart Bread {with Maryland Crab Dip}
It’s Super Bowl Sunday and I had resigned myself to the idea that I wasn’t going to put on a big spread, even though this is the 2nd biggest eating holiday of the year, after Thanksgiving. Nope, wasn’t going to do it. Although, somehow a roast chicken dinner just didn’t scream Football the way I was starting to feel Football. So as any good coach would do….let’s drop back and punt. We have no stake in the outcome of this game so really it’s got to be about the food (and the commercials). Paying tribute to both teams for making it to the Big Game…we are having Sourdough (in honor of the San…
