Steak Soup
Many years ago I went to Kansas City on a business trip. I was invited to dinner with a dear friend at one of the wonderful Steakhouses in town. I informed in advance that besides amazing steaks, this particular establishment was famous for their Steak Soup.

Rustic Potato Chowder {with Bacon}
Rustic Potato Chowder with Bacon. After one bite I knew we would have to recreate it for Lemony Thyme. It’s hearty enough to enjoy as a meal and easy enough to become a weeknight favorite. I was just having a conversation with a friend about how bacon makes everything better. I’ve shared before that we keep our bacon in the freezer. That way we always have some on hand and it’s easy to cut into pieces that cook quickly. Bacon adds wonderful flavor to this chowder, but feel free to omit for a vegetarian version. Leftover cooked new potatoes also contributed to the minimal effort required.

Chicken Noodle Soup with Homemade Egg Noodles
The cold weather season triggers something special in the brain. Whirling twirling ideas of how to make our favorite seasonal dishes even better than last year. Noooo I’m not referring to pumpkin recipes :) For me that something special would be soups. All kinds of glorious soups, of both the brothy and creamy persuasion. I took a good hard look at our Soups, Stews & Chilis category to see where there might be a void.

Roasted Veggie Pot Pie {with Herbed Biscuit Crust}
Someday I think I’d like to do an entire recipe series on ‘How to make this from that.’ In other words, how to enjoy dinner on day one, then turn the leftovers into a completely new meal (or two) the following days. Our Roasted Veggie Pot Pie {with Herbed Biscuit Crust} is simply Roasted Veggie & White Bean Chowder with a heavenly layer of comfort baked on top.

Roasted Veggie & White Bean Chowder
Hanging on to every fresh produce summer moment over here on Lemony Thyme. I’m calling this soup Roasted Veggie & White Bean Chowder because it has a creaminess about it and chowders are amazing. The beautiful thing is the creamy came from the white beans not cream or butter. That puts this soup squarely in our Healthy Choices category.

Loaded Egg Salad
Loaded Egg Salad. Mom taught us how to make really good egg salad. Finely chopped eggs, celery, scallion, mayonnaise, salt & pepper. Nothing complicated just finely done. That’s all I’ve ever wanted in an egg salad. Until my birthday lunch out with Shelby.

Deviled Crab Dip
I’ve been on a sentimental journey lately exploring old family recipes. I could hardly wait to recreate Mom’s Deviled Crab Dip. I actually didn’t remember it all that well, but the ingredients were so yummy and intriguing that I knew we’d love it.

Waldorf Salad {with Honey-Cardamom Dressing}
One by one I’m recreating classic salad recipes to share on Lemony Thyme. It’s been quite fun bringing life to favorites like the Lunch Counter Chef Salad, the Classic Cobb Salad and now this delicious Waldorf Salad {with Honey-Cardamom Dressing}. The Waldorf Salad is lovely served for luncheons, showers, and other special celebrations; such as a retirement party at the office for one very special lady. Yes, you could serve this salad for just such an occasion. I stayed fairly true to the original Waldorf Salad recipe that dates back to the late 1800’s when it was first served at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City. I did however give the mayonnaise…
